As I am in the middle of a series looking at the meanings and, later, the impact of Marc Bloch’s The Historian’s Craft, it is worth mentioning that it was today in 1944 that Bloch was killed by the Gestapo as a part of the French Resistance.

Head over to Executed Today, for a great piece on his death, with more detail paid to his contributions to the resistance to Nazism.

  1. Executed Today – what a fascinating, if slightly macabre, website.

  2. Thanks for the link! Honestly, I was a bit sad that I didn’t quite have the hours in my day to do a deeper post on Marc Bloch. But I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of your Historian’s Craft series.
